Teeth in a Day
Although there is normally a delay of about 12 weeks between implant placement and restoration of the implant, there are a number of select situations where implants and the “teeth” can be placed at the same time in one visit. These “teeth” are provisional or temporary, but fixed to the jaws and are not removable.
After careful planning of your case by the periodontist and restorative dentist, all hopeless teeth will be removed and the implants placed by the periodontist. Next, and immediately following the implant placement, the restorative dentist places a previously fabricated temporary prosthesis (temporary teeth) and the patient leaves with a fixed, provisional dentition all in the same day. The temporary dentition is left in place for 6 months while the implants bind with the bone. After the 6 months of binding, during which time the provisional teeth remain in place, a “permanent” final dentition is fabricated.
This one day approach can also be performed if the patient has no teeth.
A number of the restorative dentists we work with offer this unique service. If you are interested in this extremely efficient approach to therapy, contact us for more information or a consultation to determine if you might be a candidate.
